Introduction to Jomon archaeology in all prefectures of Chugoku region, southwestern Honshu. The prefectural capital cities are Hiroshima, Matsue, Okayama, Tottori, and Yamaguchi.
Climate is warm to cool temperate with heavy snow in mountains. Southern coast along Inland Sea (Setonaikai) has many large and small islands.
