National Museum of Japanese History

Located in Chiba, between Narita airport and Tokyo, the National Museum of Japanese History offers one of the most accessible exhibitions of Jomon materials. See Gallery 1 in the permanent exhibition area, and check the current temporary exhibitions.

Kasori Shellmound Site and Museum A large open-air park with remains of a pit dwelling, permanent and temporary museum displays, and a section of shellmound strata open for viewing. No. 4 Keisei bus from JR Chiba Station to Sakuragi-cho bus stop, then 15 minutes walk, or 15 mins walk from Sakuragi monorail station. Tel. 043 231-0129. Open 9 am - 4.30 pm, closed Mondays, National Holidays and NY season.
